Phubichyachu of Tiber border is what forms Sunkoshi River.

Rafting experience starts neat the Tibetan border all the way to Ganges River of India. Rafting in Sunkoshi offers big volume white water rafting. The exciting class III to Class V rapids surely allures all the rafting and Kayaking enthusiast from the world. Moreover, the presence of relaxing canyons, waterfalls , temples, bat caves, and of course admirable white sandy beaches set for camping renders enriching rafting experience like no before.

In the initial days of rafting, you will be encountering fairly relaxed course III rapids but as day advances, class IV and V rapids will be welcoming you. The obstacles namely Rhino Rock, Jungle Corridor, Jaws are just few to name so that you can have the tip of iceberg. The rafting moment in Sunkoshi is unpredictable as one moment you will be paddling through silent and Calm River and next thing you know is you are in challenging, turbulent and exciting rapids.

This “river of gold” Sunkoshi rafting starts from Dolalghat which is just 2 hour drive from capital Kathmandu. Recently Dumja has been identified as new put in point for Sunkoshi Rafting. As the journey starts, you will rafting through Tarang Gaon, Dumja, Khurkot, Likhi Khola, Harkapur Gaon, Rai Ghat, bander Ghat. Bonjur Ghat and finally to Barachhatra. The final day of rafting brings you to open plain and admirable village of Chatara. Upon reaching Barachhhatra, we will drive you to Chatara and then to Kathmandu.

Upon reaching put-in-point, you will be briefed about dos and don’ts of rafting. You will be introduced with fellow rafters, guide and team.

What you provide

We provide self-bailing rafts, wetsuits, helmets, plastic paddles, wet suits, life jackets and first aid kit. We concern your safety. So, we have well trained staffs and rafters capable of CPR, first aid and complicated river rescue. The healthy food and comfortable night sleep is guaranteed under the Bhotekoshi rafting of Aarya Tara Travels and Tours.

What to Bring

  • T-shirt, swim wear for on the river, warm clothing for the evenings, fleece or a pullover.
  • Sunscreen and lip protector, Sunglasses (with retaining device) and/or a cap
  • Towel and Toiletries (environmentally friendly is best), Personal medication
  • Flashlight, Footwear, Reading book, fishing hook if you do fishing.

Drive from Kathmandu to Dolalghat (60 km). Upon arrival, briefing and start rafting tour towards Tarang Gaon.
Raft from Tarang Gaon to Dumja– approx. 4 hrs. raft
Raft from Dumja to Khurkot – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft from Khurkot to Likhu Khola– approx. 5 hrs. raft
Raft from Likhu Khola to Harkapur village – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft from Harkapur village to Rai Ghat – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft from Rai Ghat to Bander Ghat – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft Bander Ghat to Bonjur Ghat – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft Bonjur Ghat to Baraha Chhetra – approx. 6 hrs. raft
Raft from Baraha Chhetra to Chatara then drive back to Kathmandu.
